Jet2 gives you more in the cabin than any budget rival, then catches people out on busy flights. Here is the official 2026 allowance, checked against Jet2.com, and how to use all of it.

The short version: you get two bags. A large one for the overhead locker at 56 x 45 x 25 cm, and a small one that goes under the seat in front of you at 40 x 30 x 20 cm. Both are included as standard. Most of the confusion about Jet2 comes from people reading the big number and assuming it is the only one, or reading the small number and thinking their cabin bag has to fit it.

• The overhead cabin bag. 10kg included as standard (excluding infants), no larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm including wheels and handles. This is the one that goes in the locker above your head.
• The under-seat bag. One small bag, such as a handbag or laptop bag, no bigger than 40 x 30 x 20 cm. This is the one that has to slide under the seat in front of you.

Two bags, both included. On Ryanair and Wizz Air the free tier is the small under-seat bag only, so Jet2's standard allowance is the most generous of the budget carriers.

The catch: busy flights

Jet2's policy says that on busy flights hand luggage may need to be checked into the hold. That applies to the large overhead bag, not the small one under the seat, which stays with you. If you want your 10kg bag guaranteed in the cabin, Jet2 sells Guaranteed Cabin Luggage as an add-on. The price is not printed on the baggage page, so check it at booking.

The part people get wrong

The limits include wheels and handles. That is the line that catches people: a case sold as 56 x 45 x 25 often measures that at the body, before the wheels. Measure the whole bag, corner to corner, or fly soft-sided and skip the argument.

What fits the 40 x 30 x 20 cm under-seat bag

The BRAW Explorer 2 measures 40 x 30 x 20 cm at base, which is Jet2's under-seat limit to the centimetre. Open the 25cm expansion and it measures 40 x 30 x 25 cm, which still sits inside Jet2's 56 x 45 x 25 cm overhead cabin bag limit, so on Jet2 it can fly expanded as your 10kg bag instead. Fly out with it under the seat and your 10kg bag overhead. Come home with the expansion open and everything still in the cabin. The 1050d shell and 900d facing take airport handling without fuss, and the padded sleeve holds up to a 15in laptop. It is £115, down from £135.
